The Sheerframe range includes a variety of window fixing systems to accommodate traditional building practices and to comply with the latest Building Regulations.
All have been developed through close cooperation with house building companies. Many of the problems inherent in other products have been addressed leading to systems that are technically superior in terms of their ease of use, reliability and performance.
Sheerframe Subframe/Cavity Closer
The Sheerframe Subframe/Cavity Closer performs four separate functions:
- it acts as a template for the bricklayer
- it seals and insulates the cavity opening
- it provides a d.p.c. around the window reveal
- it acts as a simple fixing system for the finished glazed window
Key features & benefits of this system include:
- BBA approved
- finished glazed windows can be fitted from either the inside or outside of the building
- an integral co-extruded gasket on the subframe optimises weather performance
- delivered to site ready to use - there is no site assembly
- the subframe is completely concealed by the window and internal finishings
- the sightlines of the window are not increased
- conforms to all industry standards and the latest Building Regulations
- different cavity sizes available
- optional integral overframe ventilator system
- dedicated system for both flush and rebated reveals
The subframe/cavity closer is built in by the bricklayer. It acts as a template and automatically seals and insulates the cavity opening whilst providing a d.p.c.
Pre-glazed windows are fitted from either the inside...
...or the outside of the building. Special cleats secure the window to the subframe. The integral gasket on the subframe creates a mechanical break to water penetration.
Silicon sealant is used to seal the window to the brickwork. Each window can be fitted in just a few minutes.

Timber Frame Buildings
With timber frame constructions, it is essential that windows are fixed to the timber frame construction and not the brickwork. This is to allow differential movements between the timber structure and brick facade.
It is also vital that windows are supported properly, particularly at the base, to ensure that no element of the window is stressed or loaded incorrectly. A support bracket system constructed from galvanised steel is available to achieve this. Further details are available on request.
The windows can be fitted either before or after the external brickwork is complete.

Rebated Reveals
The rebated reveal version of the subframe/cavity closer provides a guide for both the brick and block, thus ensuring that a correct opening is created.
A 'render-stop' version of the subframe is available to allow windows to be fitted after rendering.
